IONNA, the EV charging network backed by eight major automakers, has announced a strategic partnership with Circle K to bring high-power fast charging to more than 350 convenience store locations across the United States. Branded as Rechargeries @ Circle K, the deal pairs IONNA’s charging infrastructure with Circle K’s established nationwide retail footprint. For EV drivers, it signals a meaningful step toward reducing range anxiety by adding reliable fast charging where people already stop on road trips.

IONNA Circle K EV charging partnership targets 350 sites

The collaboration gives IONNA two tracks of expansion simultaneously. The network will assume operation of Circle K’s existing U.S. charging portfolio and rapidly convert and upgrade approximately 85 current sites. Beyond that, new deployments will launch at premium, high-traffic Circle K locations where no chargers currently exist.

The first Rechargeries @ Circle K sites are scheduled to begin serving drivers by the end of 2026. Additional scale across the full 350-plus site footprint is planned for 2027.

Aaron Wolff, COO of IONNA, said Circle K’s scale and location quality make it “an ideal partner as we rapidly expand high-power charging where drivers already want to stop.”

400 kW fast charging and dual connector access at every site

All sites in scope will feature charging speeds of up to 400 kW, with both CCS and NACS connectors available to drivers. That dual-connector approach ensures compatibility across the current and near-future EV market, removing a barrier that has frustrated drivers at earlier-generation public charging infrastructure.

Circle K brings more than 7,300 U.S. stores to the partnership. Håkon Stiksrud, VP of Global eMobility at Circle K, said the goal is to make EV charging “as easy and convenient as possible,” combining fast, reliable charging with the retailer’s food and beverage offer at locations drivers already trust.

Advancing IONNA’s 30,000-bay target by 2030

The Circle K deal is a significant step toward IONNA’s stated mission of deploying 30,000 high-power charging bays across the U.S. by 2030. The partnership accelerates that buildout by leveraging existing retail real estate rather than building solely from greenfield sites.

Founded by BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis and Toyota, IONNA is designed to deliver charging infrastructure at scale with a driver-first experience. The Circle K partnership extends that model into one of the country’s largest convenience retail networks, combining fast charging with the amenities drivers need on longer journeys.
