Overview


Lucid Motors is hiring an ECU Test Technician to manage software releases and testing for its ECU manufacturing programme in Arizona. The role sits at the centre of Lucid’s in-house ECU flashing and test process, coordinating with test engineers, TPMs, and contract manufacturers to keep software deployment on track for 20+ concurrent programmes. It combines release management with hands-on hardware troubleshooting, covering harnesses, connectors, wiring, and test station computers. Automotive ECU experience and familiarity with UDS, CAN, and DoIP protocols are valued given Lucid’s software-defined vehicle architecture across the Lucid Air and Gravity platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the central resource to establish and track software releases
  • Act as user champion when coordinating software releases inside the flashing area
  • Manage the in-house ECU software release process with the Test Team (MFG), Operations, and Contract Manufacturers
  • Collaborate with TPMs, software engineers, and test engineers to implement and maintain release solutions and processes
  • Support other teams with information requests (SW file locations, flashing tools, traceability information) for Engineering builds and Production
  • Communicate regularly to the Test Engineer on activities and status across all 20+ assigned programmes
  • Review, track, and sign off all SW DEVREQs/ECR for internal and external ECUs
  • Manage multiple concurrent releases, builds, and deployments from development to production rollout
  • Manage pre-release software testing in the Mfg Test lab, CM, and internal sites
  • Track all open software issues affecting these teams and manage them to resolution
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair damaged harnesses, connectors, and wiring used in ECU flashing and test stations
  • Identify and resolve computer-related connection issues, including USB, Ethernet, serial, and diagnostic interface problems
  • Maintain and support test station computers, including Windows troubleshooting, software setup, driver installation, network connectivity, and peripheral configuration

Requirements


Essential: 3+ years of experience in electronics to end customers; at least 3 years in a technical role; skilled in working with multiple organisations across different cultures and regions; ability to work in a small, motivated group within a larger organisation; working knowledge of computers, Windows operating systems, wiring diagrams, harness repair, connector pinouts, and basic electrical troubleshooting; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); excellent written and oral communication skills.
Desirable: experience in high-volume Consumer or Enterprise electronics, with Automotive ECU experience a definite plus; knowledge of the UDS standard (user level); knowledge of CAN and DoIP protocols (user level); automotive experience.
