Overview
Lucid Motors is seeking a Senior HV Battery Technician to serve as a hands-on technical expert across the full battery build lifecycle at its Newark, California facility. The role spans prototype assembly, validation testing, and field issue resolution for the high-voltage battery systems that underpin the Lucid Air and Lucid Gravity — vehicles built around Lucid’s proprietary software-defined architecture and deep vertical integration model. Working at the intersection of build quality, diagnostics, and engineering collaboration, the Senior Technician will also mentor junior technicians and drive continuous improvement across battery assembly and test processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead assembly and teardown of HV battery modules and packs, including cell integration, busbar and coolant systems, enclosure sealing, and diagnostic inspection
- Support validation and lifecycle tests, operating automation systems, CAN-based tools, and electrical diagnostic equipment
- Analyse test data, troubleshoot complex issues, and provide feedback to engineering for design and process improvements
- Investigate and resolve high-priority HV battery concerns in support of R&D teams
- Collaborate with engineering teams on battery-related projects
- Mentor and train junior technicians, driving adherence to safety and best practices
- Identify and implement process improvements across build and test operations to enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability
Requirements
Essential: 5+ years of experience in automotive, EV, or HV battery systems as a technician; Associate’s degree in a technical field, ASE certification, or equivalent experience; proficiency in HV battery assembly, electrical diagnostics, CAN communication, and safe HV handling practices; strong communication, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills; ability to work independently, mentor peers, and interface cross-functionally; flexibility to work varied shifts and travel up to approximately 20%; proficiency in MS Office Suite and technical reporting tools.
Desirable: High voltage certification.
